It has been reported that seven armed perpetrators boarded a cargo vessel whilst underway approximately 118nm Southwest of Bonny, Nigeria. The majority if the crew mustered in the citadel and monitored the incident using the vessel's CCTV. Upon disembarking the vessel, the perpetrators kidnapped the vessel's First Engineer, who has sustained injuries. UPDATE 1: It has been reported that it was the First Engineer has mustered in the citadel, however, the Second Engineer has been confirmed to have been kidnapped. The Chief Engineer has been found. UPDATE 2: It has been reported that the perpetrators were armed with gun-like objects. The local authorities boarded and searched the cargo vessel in the early hours of 31 May 2025, confirming that the there are no longer any perpetrators onboard the vessel. It has been reported that the perpetrators have damaged parts of the vessel's bridge equipment. The remaining crew onboard the vessel are reported to be safe and have exited the vessel's citadel. The vessel is now being escorted to a safe port of call. Clearwater will continue to investigate.
