| It has been reported that a boarding has occurred onboard a Portugal-flagged LPG tanker whilst underway, approximately 50nm Southwest of Bata, Equatorial Guinea. A number of pirates were able to board the tanker and initial reports state a number crew members have been abducted. UPDATE 1: The MDAT-GoG have confirmed that twelve crew members have been kidnapped and one crew member wounded. The Portuguese Navy have confirmed a patrol vessel has been tasked to intercept the tanker. UPDATE 2: A further update has been issued by the MDAT-GoG informing that nine crew members were kidnapped, four crew remain on board of which one has sustained an injury. UPDATE 3: Further information has been received informing that the pirates broke their way onto the bridge, this resulted in a crew member getting injured by a stray bullet, the crew member is reported to be in a stable condition. The pirates then mustered all of the crew on the bridge and took personal belongings before escorting the nine crew onto the pirate vessel. The vessel is currently underway to Libreville, Gabon. Clearwater will continue to investigate and update this alert upon receipt of confirmed information. | |||||
