| The UKMTO have reported that a tanker has experienced a fire in the engine room approximately 20nm Northeast of Sohar, Oman (exact position not specified). Local authorities are on scene assisting with the evacuation of the crew. The vessel is reporting one casualty and two crew members missing. No environmental impact has been reported. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire. UPDATE 1: Clearwater have received further information that the vessel involved in the incident is a Palau-flagged tanker. The tanker transmitted a distress call reporting that it had been struck by a missile, resulting in a fire onboard. The distress call was received by a nearby vessel which reported that the Oman Navy was responding. UPDATE 2: U.S. Central Command have reported that U.S. forces disabled the Palau-flagged tanker in the Gulf of Oman. A U.S. aircraft fired precision munitions into the vessel's engine room after the crew repeatedly failed to comply with directions from American forces. The vessel was reportedly attempting to transport oil from Iran in violation of an ongoing blockade. | |||||
