| Open-sources have reported that an oil tanker was attacked near the Yakboni coast of Jask, Iran (exact time and position not specified). Open-sources have confirmed that four tankers were struck by missiles on 8 September 2026 near the Yakboni coast of Jask in southern Iran, Oman Gulf, Iranian waters. The tankers' crews were safely evacuated in the first moments after the attack according to state television. These attacks, along with another strike on a tanker close to Kharg Island, were conducted as retaliation following IRGC strikes against a US aircraft carrier. US CENTCOM confirmed that forces destroyed five Iranian crude oil carriers on 8 September after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice over the previous two days. The U.S. warship successfully evaded the attempted Iranian attacks and continued to patrol regional waters with no American personnel harmed. Iran has threatened to target oil tankers in Kuwait and Bahrain in retaliation for the U.S. strikes. | |||||
