It has been reported to the UKMTO that a vessel has been attacked 83nm Southeast of Aden, Yemen (exact position not specified). The Master reported that the vessel has been hit by projectiles and that the crew are reported safe. The authorities are investigating. Clearwater have received further information that the vessel was a Singapore-flagged container ship and that initial reports state that two Unmanned Aerial Vehicles hit the port side of the vessel. UPDATE: The UKMTO have confirmed that the vessel was hit on the port side by two missiles, within a one hour period. The first missile hit midship and the second was reported to have hit towards the aft end, near the accommodation block. The vessel has sustained damage but remains seaworthy. The Master of the vessel reported all crew safe and that the vessel will return to their last port of call under Military assistance. |
