Open-sources have reported that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) completed the twelfth consecutive evening of strikes against Iran at 02:30 UTC on 23 July 2026. U.S. forces struck Iranian military targets including maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites, and air defence assets to further degrade Iran's ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial vessels. Since the beginning of this month, American forces have targeted dozens of Iranian military sites on land whilst resuming a blockade against Iran at sea. As of 23 July, CENTCOM has redirected nine commercial vessels and disabled one to prevent ships from entering or departing Iranian ports. Iranian media reported attacks in Bushehr, Ahvaz, Jask, Andimeshk, and Sirik, all in southern Iran (exact times and positions not specified). The deputy governor of Khuzestan province reported that two people had been killed and eleven wounded in a missile attack on the Shalamcheh border crossing between Iran and Iraq. In response, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) conducted retaliatory strikes against U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Jordan (exact times not specified). The IRGC claimed strikes on Ali al-Salem airbase and Al-Adiri barracks in Kuwait, targeting military equipment warehouses, Patriot and THAAD missile defence systems, MQ-9 drone hangars, C-RAM radar systems, helicopter hangars, accommodation facilities, and a telecommunications tower. The IRGC also reported strikes on multiple U.S. military assets in Jordan.
