| UKMTO has reported an incident 30NM Southwest of Al Hudaydah, Yemen (exact position not specified). A cargo vessel issued a distress alert stating that they are under attack by unknown armed assailants. Authorities are investigating. Clearwater have received further information stating that the vessel involved is a Palau flagged bulk carrier. Clearwater will continue to investigate and update this alert on receipt of further information. UPDATE: MSCIO have reported that the bulk carrier reported being approached by one skiff, which closed to within 20 metres of the vessel and opened fire. The armed security team onboard returned fire, after which the skiff moved away and proceeded towards a mothership vessel located approximately 2NM away, with AIS switched off. The vessel and crew are reported safe. Operation ATALANTA is investigating the incident | |||||
