| The UKMTO have reported that a 'Palau' flagged tanker has experienced a fire onboard approximately 15nm northeast of Masirah, Oman (exact time not specified). The incident resulted in the evacuation of the crew. Omani and Indian authorities are coordinating the response. Open-sources have identified the vessel as an oil tanker carrying twenty-four Indian crew members, all of whom are reported safe. The vessel was travelling in ballast condition and was not carrying cargo at the time. There are no reports of environmental impact at present. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire. Vessels are advised to transit with caution. UPDATE: U.S. Central Command have reported that U.S. forces disabled the tanker in the Gulf of Oman after the vessel violated an ongoing blockade against Iran by attempting to sail to an Iranian port. An F/A-18 Super Hornet from USS Abraham Lincoln fired a precision munition into the vessel's engineering and steering spaces after the crew failed to comply with directions from U.S. forces.
