It has been reported that there has been two separate suspicious approaches involving small craft. At approximately 07:15 (UTC), a merchant vessel reported being approached and followed by a suspicious boat carrying seven persons onboard in the vicinity of position 12°58.73’N 048°11.76’E. At approximately 07:30 UTC, another merchant vessel reported being approached by a white dhow carrying between eight and ten persons onboard in the vicinity of position 12°53.10’N 048°20.50’E. In both incidents, the approaching craft disengaged after the vessels implemented defensive measures, including the deployment of armed security personnel. No injuries, damage, or boarding attempts were reported. While the intent of the approaching craft remains unconfirmed, the proximity of the incidents in both time and location suggests they may be linked. Vessels operating in the area are strongly advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, and report immediately any suspicious activity to MSCIO and UKMTO.
