Open-sources have reported that the Iranian Naval Warship IRIS DENA was attacked and sunk approximately 25nm South of Galle, Sri Lanka (exact time and location not specified). Multiple news outlets indicate that the ship made a distress call after what is being described as a submarine attack. Sri Lanka's Navy and Air Force launched a rescue operation in response to the distress signal. As it stands there are over one hundred missing, seventy-eight have been reported injured, and thirty sailors have been transported to a hospital in the Sri Lankan port of Galle. UPDATE: Open-sources have confirmed the Iranian vessel was bit by a torpedo fired from a U.S. Submarine. This is significant because it is the first sinking of a warship by a U.S Submarine since World War Two.
