| Open-sources have reported that armed individuals attempted to board the United States-flagged, Container Ship, NATIONAL GLORY (IMO 8302246), whilst the vessel was at anchor in the Port-au-Prince Bay anchorage area, Haiti (exact position not specified), during the night of 10–11 October 2026. Armed men reportedly approached the vessel aboard a small boat and attempted to board. The crew retreated to a secure area before the Captain made contact with the Coast Guard. Responding Coast Guard officers came under gunfire from the attackers, who were subsequently driven off. The vessel remained under Coast Guard protection overnight before returning to berth the following day, where it discharged cargo and later departed. All approximately twenty crew members onboard were reported safe and uninjured. The attackers have not been formally identified; Haitian authorities have indicated the area of the incident is associated with gang activity operating out of Mariani, though this link remains unconfirmed. A formal incident report from Haiti's Maritime and Navigation Service (SEMANAH) is still pending. | |||||
