The IFC have reported that an explosion occurred onboard a grounded, unmanned Nicaragua-flagged tanker off Manori Island, Mumbai, India (exact time not specified). The vessel had been adrift and unmanned since breaking free from her anchorage during a storm in July 2026. A group of persons is alleged to have boarded the vessel in an attempt to cut and remove copper wiring and piping. During this activity, an explosion occurred, killing four of the alleged perpetrators. Local police were alerted to the incident by an associate of the group, who contacted authorities requesting assistance. Investigations are ongoing.
