| It has been reported that a Palau-flagged bulk carrier was struck by a suspected aerial drone while in the vicinity of the port of Novorossiysk, Russia, having sailed from Poti, Georgia (exact time and position not specified). The strike reportedly caused a significant fire in the accommodation block and stern area, leaving the vessel disabled. The vessel was subsequently towed to Turkey for further inspection, search, and repair. Reports indicate the vessel's crew comprised of seven Egyptian, six Syrian, and three Turkish nationals. The family of the vessel's Turkish second engineer has reported him missing since the incident, stating they have been unable to make contact with him. Reports are attributing the strike to Ukrainian Defense Forces; however this has not been confirmed or claimed by Ukrainian authorities. | |||||
