Open-sources have reported that U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces completed a heavy wave of strikes against Iran at approximately 02:00 UTC on 30 July 2026, in response to attempted missile attacks on U.S. forces on 28 July 2026. U.S forces struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran, including missile and drone facilities, military command centres, coastal surveillance and defence sites, and maritime capabilities. The strikes aimed to further diminish threats posed by Iran and its proxies to American forces, commercial shipping, and neighbouring Gulf countries. According to Iranian officials, a residential building on Qeshm Island was hit, with three people reported killed and two injured. The island has experienced power outages, and officials are working to restore electricity. Kish Island was also struck, though authorities reported no disruptions to passenger or car ferry schedules, or to port operations there. In Bandar Abbas, reports of explosions were later clarified by authorities, who stated that the sounds heard were not from strikes on the city itself, but were echoes from the attack on Qeshm Island. In Khuzestan province, at least three locations were struck. The region is considered the heart of Iran's oil industry. Three cities in the province of Bushehr; Bushehr, Jam and Khormoj were also targeted, no casualties were reported. The Jordanian Armed Forces reported that their air defence systems intercepted and shot down five missiles launched from Iran targeting the kingdom's territory early this morning. According to an official spokesperson for the armed forces, military radar detected the incoming missiles before air defence units successfully engaged and downed all five targets.
