It has been reported that a tanker was approached by a skiff whilst underway approximately 85nm South off the coast of Yemen, within the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor, Gulf of Aden. The skiff closed to within 3nm of the vessel on the port side. The tanker conducted evasive maneuvers and the vessel's armed security team were deployed to the bridge wing. The vessel activated the fire hoses, sounded the ship's horn, conducted evasive maneuvers, and mustered the crew. A VHF notification was issued on channel 16 by the tanker to surrounding vessels. The authorities are investigating.
