| The MSCIO have reported a possible hijacking of a dhow whilst transiting to Kismayo, Somalia. (exact time and position not specified) The incident reportedly occurred off the southern Somali coast. The dhow was reportedly boarded and possibly taken over by an armed piracy group. Operation ATALANTA is currently investigating the incident in coordination with maritime security authorities and regional partners. Vessels operating in the area are strongly advised to maintain heightened vigilance, adhere to BMP-MS, particularly within 150NM off the Somali coast between Mogadishu and Hafun, and report immediately any suspicious activity or information to MSCIO and UKMTO. UPDATE: After further investigation conducted by Operation ATALANTA, the incident is assessed to be unrelated to piracy. | |||||
