The UKMTO have reported that a vessel has been attacked whilst anchored approximately 30nm Southeast of Mubarak Al Kabeer, Kuwait (exact position not specified). The Master reported a large explosion on the port side of the vessel and witnessed a small craft leave the area. The explosion has resulted in oil escaping into the water from one of the cargo tanks and the vessel has taken on water. No fires have occurred and the crew are reported as safe. UPDATE 1: Clearwater have received further information that that vessel involved in the incident is a Bahamas-flagged oil tanker. UPDATE 2: The master of the tanker has updated the UKMTO to inform that the discharge from the vessel was actually ballast water, and the vessel remains at her current location inside Iraqi territorial waters.
