It has been reported that there has been an attack on a vessel approximately 50nm north of Muscat in the Gulf of Oman (Exact location not specified). Reports indicate that over VHF Channel 16 it was reported the vessel had been struck by an unknown projectile above the waterline, and that a fire in the engine room was now under control. Further information has been received confirming that the vessel involved was a Marshal Islands-flagged oil tanker and that one crew member lost their life as a result of the incident. UPDATE: The UKMTO have released further information that the tanker was attacked by an Unmanned Surface Vehicle and that the crew have been evacuated to shore.
