Explosion on an LPG tanker, Russia

Open-sources have reported that two explosions occurred on a Marshal Islands-flagged LPG tanker whilst conducing loading operations at UST-Luga Port, Russia (exact time not specified). The tanker was loading ammonia and following the explosions the tanker listed to the port side and started to sink, which resulted in some of the ammonia to leak from the tanks. The Russian Ministry of Transport has already acknowledged a "minor leak due to an incident during loading." The twenty-three crew members were evacuated from the tanker, with no casualties being reported. The terminal’s emergency services are currently dealing with incident and it is reported that a diving inspection of the vessel is planned to try and establish the cause of the incident.
