The UKMTO have been informed by the Company Security Officer that a vessel is under attack from multiple small craft approximately 51nm Southwest of Hodeidah, Yemen. The personnel onboard the small craft have opened fire with small arms and self-propelled grenades. The armed security team onboard have returned fire. Clearwater have also received further information that the vessel involved is a Liberia-flagged bulk carrier. UPDATE 1: At 14:01 UTC, the Company Security Officer has confirmed the vessel has been struck by unknown projectiles resulting in a fire onboard. The situation remains ongoing. UPDATE 2: The UKMTO has confirmed that the vessel is taking on water and the crew are preparing to abandon ship. The vessel's last reported position was 15° 53N 041° 42E. UPDATE 3: The Company Security Officer has confirmed that all crew have now abandoned ship in position was 14° 57N 041° 39E and are awaiting assistance. UPDATE 4: The UKMTO have confirmed that the crew have been rescued by a passing merchant vessel, all crew members are safe and well. Vessels in the area should exercise extreme caution whilst transiting the southern Red Sea, as the bulk carrier remains abandoned and unlit. UPDATE 5: Further information has been received stating that several Unmanned Surface Vessels targeted the bulk carrier, resulting in two hitting the vessel. There were also at least three missiles fired towards the vessel one of which struck the vessel. UPDATE 6: The Yemen Armed Forces have released video footage confirming that the bulk carrier has sunk, the time and date of the sinking has not been specified.
