| Open-sources have reported that in the early hours of 1 September 2026 (exact time not specified), Ukrainian forces launched a large-scale drone attack on Russia’s Ust-Luga port complex in Leningrad Oblast on the Baltic coast. Russian air defences intercepted dozens of drones over the region, including claims of 17 near the port itself, while local authorities reported damage to the area and a fire that was later extinguished with no casualties. The strike formed part of Ukraine’s intensified campaign against Russian energy export and refining infrastructure, aimed at disrupting revenues and fuel supplies. Ukrainian military intelligence confirmed damage to key components of an oil-processing unit and related equipment.
