Open-sources have reported that two tankers were struck by unidentified projectiles whilst transiting towards Novorossiysk, Russia (exact time not specified). A Hong Kong-flagged chemical/products tanker was first targeted and received damage to the bridge and accommodation block, the twenty-one-crew abandoned ship and were picked up by a Greek-flagged crude oil tanker. Turkish media says the vessel was approximately 90 nm from Sinop, Turkey, when it was struck by a drone and abandoned. Pictures circulating online show extensive fire damage to the deck house and bridge. After drifting in the Black Sea for several days, both tankers have washed ashore in Turkey on the 30th of August.
