| It has been reported that a tanker has issued a distress call on VHF Channel 16 whilst underway Westbound in the IRTC, approximately 136nm East of Al Mukalla, Yemen (exact time and location not specified). The call mentioned that they have been approached by an unauthorised vessel. UPDATE 1: The UKMTO have issued further information stating that the tanker has been boarded by six armed perpetrators who are in control of the vessel, and are now sailing towards Somalia. UPDATE 2: The Puntland Maritime Police Force (PMPF) have confirmed that the Eritrean-flagged tanker has been recovered and the pirates apprehended. | |||||
