The UKMTO have reported that a cargo vessel has been hijacked whilst transiting approximately 4nm south of Mareeyo, Somalia (approximate position). The Company Security Officer reported that eight armed unauthorised persons boarded the vessel and have taken control. Authorities are investigating. Clearwater will continue to investigate. UPDATE: Open-sources have reported that Turkish and Somali Forces have freed the hijacked vessel. The 10-day operation reportedly resulted in fourteen alleged pirates being killed and the destruction of four boats used by the attackers.
