Clearwater has received reports of a suspicious approach involving a tanker transiting the westbound lane of the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC), approximately 44nm south-west of Aden. The vessel was approached by a high-speed craft carrying approximately five persons, which closed to within 1nm. In response, the Master immediately raised the alarm and mustered the crew in accordance with the vessel's security procedures. Upon observing the vessel's Armed Security Team, the approaching craft discontinued its approach and altered course away from the vessel. No further interaction was reported. All crew are reported safe, and the incident has been reported to the appropriate maritime authorities.
