| Open-sources have reported that US forces conducted strikes on Iranian military positions at Bandar Abbas in the early hours of 28 May 2026 (exact time and position not specified). US Central Command forces shot down four Iranian one-way attack drones that posed a threat around the Strait of Hormuz and struck a ground control station that was preparing to launch a fifth drone. US officials stated the actions were defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire. Reports indicated that the four drones were targeting a US tanker transiting outbound with AIS switched off. Iranian state media reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps subsequently responded targeting a US military base in Kuwait in retaliation for the strikes. Kuwaiti air defences were activated to intercept hostile missile and drone threats at approximately 06:00 local time in Kuwait City. | |||||
