The UKMTO have reported that a St Kitts and Nevis-flagged cargo vessel has been hijacked whilst underway approximately 6nm Northeast of Garacad, Somalia (exact position not specified). Initial reports indicate that a number of unauthorised persons have taken control of the vessel which has been re-directed to within the Somalian territorial waters. The authorities are investigating. UPDATE: EUNAVFOR have confirmed that Operation ATALANTA units remain actively engaged in tracking the situation involving the hijacked vessel. The cargo vessel's current location is 07° 13'N, 049° 33'E.
