The UKMTO have reported that a tanker has been attacked whilst operating approximately 17nm North of Ras Laffan, Qatar (exact position not specified). The Company Security Officer reported the tanker has been hit by an unidentified projectile causing damage to the hull above the waterline on the port side of the vessel. The crew are reported as safe and no environmental impact has been reported. The authorities are investigating. UPDATE: The UKMTO have confirmed that the tanker was struck by two projectiles. One caused a fire which has been extinguished. The second projectile remains unexploded within the engine room and is being investigated by the relevant authorities. UKMTO have been unable to confirm the source of the projectiles and continue to investigate.
