It has been reported that there has been an attack on a cargo ship whilst underway in the Strait of Hormuz. An unknown projectile has caused damage to the engine room, trapping three crewmembers inside. The Captain and crew are intending to evacuate. UPDATE 1: Information has been released by the UKMTO informing that the fire has been extinguished and a skeleton crew remain onboard. UPDATE 2: Further information has been released by Thailand's Navy Chief of Staff, Admiral Thadawut Tadpitakkul, confirming that the three crewmembers are alive and are believed to be sheltering in the ship's engine room. However, intermittent weapons firing nearby has prevented rescuers from boarding the vessel. UPDATE 3: Further updates indicate that the vessel is now stranded close to shore near the Qeshm coastline after drifting and running aground.
