It has been reported that a robbery has occurred on a Panama-flagged bulk carrier while underway in the Philip Channel, Singapore Strait. Sources indicate that that crew sighted six perpetrators with knives in the steering gear compartment, the alarm was then raised and crew mustered. The perpetrators reportedly escaped with ships engine spares. The captain has reported that all crew are safe and accounted for, and the vessel has instructed to proceeds to an anchorage for inspection by the Coast Guard.
