Open-source reports state that a Russian-flagged tanker has come under attack whilst underway approximately 80nm off Sinop, Turkey (exact position and time not specified). Turkish officials relayed a report stating that the tanker, transporting sunflower oil, was reportedly struck by Unmanned Surface Vessels but was heading to Sinop under its own power. Russian agencies later issued a statement also reporting that the tanker was attacked by Unmanned Surface Vessels whilst the vessel was sailing from "Russia to Georgia" and that only minor damage had been sustained with no water leaks. There were also no injuries reported to the thirteen crew members onboard. A Ukrainian Foreign Affairs spokesperson has subsequently denied Ukraine's involvement in the incident stating that "the alleged route from Russia to Georgia across Türkiye's EEZ makes no sense and suggests that Russia may have staged the whole thing".
