The UKMTO have received information from a Company Security Officer that there is an incident involving a vessel approximately 20nm East of Khor Fakkan, United Aran Emirates (exact position not specified). UPDATE 1: The UKMTO have reported that the vessel is heading towards Iranian territorial waters, and it is assessed to be state activity. UPDATE 2: A statement has been issued by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps stating that a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker was seized, following a judicial order to confiscate its cargo. It is reported that the tanker was loaded with approximately 30,000 tonnes of petrochemical products owned by Iran that were being transferred illegally to Singapore and that the offenders were Iranian individuals or companies accused of trying to export the cargo unlawfully. The tanker has been directed to an Iranian anchorage and following an investigation of the cargo and documentation found the vessel to be in breach for transporting unauthorised goods. UPDATE 3: The vessel manager has released a statement confirming that the tanker has been released by Iranian authorities and that the twenty one crew members are safe. The tanker has resumed its voyage to its next port of call.
