It has been reported that an Iranian dhow has been seized off Garcad, Somalia (exact position and time not specified). The Puntland Police Forces reported that two Iranian dhows were engaged by a Somalian group. One dhow is reported to have escaped, however one remains unlocated, which means it may be used as a mother vessel in future pirate action. UPDATE: The UKMTO have received further information clarifying that the local authorities engaged the two dhows which were acting suspiciously. One of the dhows was successfully seized by the authorities. The second dhow evaded capture and its location is not known at this time. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO or MSCIO.
