It has been reported that an attempted robbery occurred on a Liberia-flagged bulk carrier whilst underway in the Eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme, Singapore Strait. Five robbers armed with knives and gun-like objects boarded the vessel and forced a member of duty crew into a locker. Once the perpetrators had moved away, the duty crew member escaped from the locker and raised the alarm which resulted in the perpetrators escaping. The incident was reported to the Vessel Traffic Information Service. Upon arrival, the bulk carrier was boarded by the coast guard for an investigation. All crew were reported safe and nothing had been reported stolen.
