It has been reported that a Comoros-flagged livestock carrier has been subject to an approach whilst underway, approximately 30nm Northwest of Mocha, Yemen. A single wooden boat approached the vessel and it is reported the persons onboard fired shots towards the livestock carrier. The Master has then been requested to alter course and proceed to Mocha, Port. The UKMTO have confirmed they have received information and are currently attempting to verify the details provided. UPDATE 1: At 11:16 UTC, the UKMTO received information from a military source that the vessel has been detained by the Yemeni Coast Guard. UPDATE 2: The UKMTO has received information from JMIC stating that the vessel was detained by the Yemeni Coast Guard for inspection, and subsequently released. This incident was not Houthi related. |
