It has been reported that an attempted robbery took place on board a Singapore-flagged container ship while underway in the Phillip Channel, Singapore Strait. Duty crew spotted three robbers on the port side of the vessel. The alarm was raised and the crew mustered which resulted in the perpetrators escaping. A search was conducted and the CCTV was reviewed, which showed that four perpetrators had boarded the container ship and broken the padlock leading to the steering gear room before the alarm had been raised. The crew were reported safe and nothing was reported stolen.
