It has been reported that Comoros-flagged oil tanker sighted a suspicious craft whilst underway in the Gulf of Aden, shortly after exiting the Bab El Mandeb (exact position not specified). The suspicious boat was observed approaching the vessel from the port side, it was not detected on radar but was spotted visually. The boat closed to between 400m to 550m and crossed ahead of the vessel’s bow. There were no navigational lights which raised suspicion. According to the report the boat appeared to be unmanned however this could not be confirmed. The Master was alerted of the craft and upon their arrival to the bridge, the craft was no longer visible and could not be re-identified. The vessel and crew are safe and are proceeding on their voyage.
