It has been reported that an attempted robbery took place on board a Hong Kong flagged bulk carrier whilst transiting the Phillip Channel, Singapore Strait. The master reported sighting eight robbers in the engine room and immediately sounded the alarm and mustered the crew, causing the perpetrators to escape empty-handed. All crew were reported safe and no items were reported missing. The vessel required no assistance and continued to her next port of call in Yosu, South Korea. UPDATE: Further information has been released informing that a breathing apparatus and charging air had been stolen.
