Open-source reports state that a Russian-flagged research vessel was attacked by two small crafts whilst operating approximately 3nm East of Tambuzi, Off Cabo Delgado, Mozambique (exact position not specified). The perpetrators fired upon the research vessel, before the vessel fled further offshore. At 1645 LT, the research vessel contacted a nearby vessel to alert the presence of the perpetrators in the area. The crew and vessel are reported safe. The reports state that it is suspected local Islamic terror groups were responsible, however this has not yet been confirmed.
