2025-05-09 14:00:00 CW Alert 012- (May 25) Indian Ocean Advisory TBC UKMTO/Master of Vessel
The UKMTO has received a number of corroborating reports from vessels experiencing GPS interference in the Red Sea, with disruptions lasting several hours, affecting navigation systems and requiring vessels to rely on backup methods (exact location not specified). Masters who experience disruption to electronic navigation systems (GPS / AIS / Other PNT) anywhere within the UKMTO Voluntary Reporting Area (VRA) are requested to contact UKMTO watchkeepers via [email protected] or 02392 222065. UPDATE: Whilst reports of electronic interference across the wider region continue to increase with frequency, reports from the Red Sea in the last 24 hours suggest an increased intensity that is significantly impacting upon electronic navigation aids in that area. Vessels are advised to be aware of this interference and navigate with caution.
