The Master of a vessel has reported to the UKMTO that they were approached whilst underway approximately 100nm East of Aden, Yemen (exact position not specified). The Master stated that armed persons onboard multiple craft followed the vessel for approximately two hours with shots being fired. The Master altered course towards the Yemen coastline which resulted in the perpetrators aborting the approach and leaving the area. All the crew are reported safe and the vessel is proceeding to its next port of call. UPDATE: Clearwater have received further information that the vessel involved was a Palau-flagged bulk carrier. Additional reports state that the bulk carrier grounded attempting to escape from the craft but was able to release itself and continued on its voyage. It is also reported that the vessel did not have a security team embarked.
