The Puntland authorities have reported that a Yemeni-flagged fishing vessel has been hijacked whilst operating off the coast of Durdura, Somalia (exact position not specified). Initial reports state that up to eight pirates boarded and are in control of the fishing vessel. The Yemen Coast Guard Headquarters in Aden have also confirmed the incident and stated that the fishing vessel is crewed by eight Somali nationals. Vessels operating in the area are advised to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity. UPDATE: EUNAVFOR have received further information stating that as of 19th March 2025, the pirates had abandoned the fishing vessel. No information regarding a ransom payment being made has been confirmed at this time.
