The UKMTO have received a report from Military authorities that a vessel is listing astern and is a hazard to shipping approximately 105nm Northwest of Hodeidah, Yemen. The crew have been evacuated from the vessel by coalition forces and are being taken to Djibouti. The vessel was drifting in position 15° 55.00N 041° 22.00E at 08:54 UTC today. Clearwater have received further information stating that the vessel involved is a Panama-flagged cargo vessel and that initial reports indicated that the vessel suffered an internal explosion in the engine room, it is not currently assessed that this incident was the result of an attack, however investigations are ongoing. UPDATE 1: It is reported that at 0925 UTC on the 12th December, the vessel is drifting in position 16° 51.00N 040 54.00E. UPDATE 2: It was reported that at 1220 UTC on the 18th December, the vessel was drifting in position 17° 53.00N 040° 36.00E. Clearwater will continue to investigate and will issue an update on receipt of confirmed information.
