It has been reported that an attempted robbery occurred on a Vietnam-flagged bulk carrier, whilst underway in the Phillip Channel, Singapore. The crew spotted two perpetrators armed with knives in the engine room, which resulted in the robbers escaping. The vessel has contacted the local authorities for assistance. The Master was unable to determine if items were stolen yet, however all crew are reported safe, and the vessel is continuing with her voyage to Singapore. UPDATE: The IMB have reported that after the coast guard boarded the vessel, a search was completed which confirmed items of engine spares had been stolen. It was also reported that one crew member sustained a minor injury during the incident.
