It has been reported that an attempted robbery occurred on a Marshall Islands-flagged bulk carrier whilst underway in the Philip Channel, Singapore Strait. Duty crew spotted four unarmed perpetrators in the engine room, which resulted in the robbers making their escape empty-handed. The Master confirmed that the crew were safe and accounted for, the vessel did not require any assistance and continued its voyage to Singapore. UPDATE: Further information has been received stating that the robbers were carrying long knives. They held a crew member from behind and tied his hands with a rubber band and told him to remain silent.
