It has been reported that an attempted robbery took place on a Philippines-flagged bulk carrier whilst underway in the Singapore Strait. Duty crew spotted four perpetrators in the engine room. The alarm was raised which resulted in the perpetrators escaping. Nothing has been reported stolen and all the crew have been reported safe. The vessel will be entering Singapore port and boarded for checks. UPDATE: Further information has been received stating that the perpetrators were armed with machetes and a gun-like object. Once investigations were completed, it was discovered that some spare parts had been stolen from the engine room.
