Open-source reports state that Houthi forces launched an attack against U.S. Naval vessels in the Red Sea (exact time and position not specified). The Houthis stated that destroyers in the Red Sea and the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier in the Arabian Sea were successfully targeted. The Pentagon confirmed that the Arleigh Burke-class destroyers USS Stockdale and USS Spruance were in the Red Sea, crossing the Bab El Mandeb and successfully repelled an attack consisting of at least eight Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, five ballistic missiles and three cruise missiles. The Pentagon denied that an attack towards the USS Abraham Lincoln took place. The Houthi attacks were reported to be in retaliation for U.S. led strikes on weapon storage sites in Yemen. |
