Open source reports state that a Panamanian flagged general cargo vessel was struck by bullets when it came under small arms fire, whilst berthed at Port Au Prince, Haiti (exact time not specified). As a result the vessel left the port and began drifting 45 miles out to sea. Due to the increased volatility and deteriorating security situation the French container line CMA CGM has stated that they have now suspended calls to Port Au Prince. In addition the US Royal Caribbean company has announced that it has suspended cruise ship calls to Labadee on the Northern coast of the island. |
