The UKMTO have received a report of an incident 60nm Southeast of Aden, Yemen. The authorities are currently investigating. Clearwater have received additional information that the vessel has been hit by a missile which has resulted in a fire onboard. Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO. UPDATE 1: Further information has been received that the vessel now requires assistance. The authorities have been informed and are responding. UPDATE 2: The vessel operators have confirmed that a Marshall Islands-flagged oil product tanker was struck by the missile. They have also stated that the fire is in one of the cargo tanks on the starboard side and that firefighting equipment has been deployed to suppress and control the fire, the operators have also stated that no injuries have been reported. The tanker has been reported to be transporting naphtha, which is highly flammable. UPDATE 3: The UKMTO have confirmed that Coalition warships have arrived at the scene and are assisting the vessel. All the crew are reported as safe. UPDATE 4: The UKMTO have stated that the fire is now extinguished, the coalition warships are supporting, and the vessel is able to continue her transit. |
