US and UK Warships shoot down Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Red Sea

Open source reports state that during the early hours of the morning (exact time and location not specified) the US Arliegh Burke class guided missile destroyer USS CARNEY successfully destroyed fourteen Unmanned Ariel Vehicles whilst operating within the Red Sea. The Unmanned Ariel Vehicles were launched from Houthi controlled areas of Yemen and were assessed to be one way attack Unmanned Aerial Vehicles arranged in a drone wave. The Unmanned Ariel Vehicles were shot down having damaged no ships and causing no injuries. It was also reported that the British destroyer HMS DIAMOND destroyed a single Unmanned Ariel Vehicle using a Sea Viper missile. The British Ship arrived in the region to help bolster international efforts to maintain maritime security. The recent wave of attacks represent a serious threat to international commerce and maritime security within the Red Sea. |
